Garson Yu is the founder and creative director of yU+co – a motion design company in L.A. responsible for numerous eye-catching title sequences. To name but two highlights: the innovative animated end credit sequence for ‘300‘ and the cleverly embedded opening credits for much-discussed 6-minute opening sequence of Watchmen.
Garson Yu started his career in NYC as a freelance designer at R/GA; moved to L.A. in ’93 to join Imaginary Forces as co-creative director alongside partner Kyle Cooper; and founded yU+co in 1998.
We asked Yu about past and current trends in title design and he talks about his favorite title sequence, Se7en.
